It’s a fact: conversational ability in Spanish is becoming increasingly useful in the U.S. At Speak!, we offer a broad and varied curriculum that includes short term immersion courses, workshops and longer-term courses for all levels, beginners through advanced. All classes are limited to 8 students (average class size=5), guaranteeing everyone ample speaking time – the only way to learn! In addition to our on-site courses for individuals, we can also organize a class for you, your group (of colleagues, friends, travel buddies) or business.

Verbs in Focus: Grammar and Conversation Workshop

Give your verbs a workout in this special workshop focusing (intensely) on the primary verb tenses (and moods) in Spanish: present, preterite, imperfect, imperative, future and conditional. Ideal for all levels, particularly advanced beginner and intermediate level students. Tenses will be taught, reviewed and practiced using a variety of techniques, primarily conversational.

Plunge! Intensive Spanish for Beginners, Levels 1 + 2

It’s a fact that frequent exposure to a new language and lots of practice is the best way for beginners to learn. Our two week immersion course, taught to a small group by two instructors, meets every weekday for 4 hours over 2 weeks for a total of 40 hours (the equivalent of 2.5 regular courses!). Level 1 is geared towards total beginners, whereas Level 2 is for adv. beginner/intermediate students who have already studied Spanish and are looking to review and practice grammar and progress much further. Entendiendo a tus Pacientes: Medical Spanish Workshop (Intermediate/Adv.)

If you are already proficient in Spanish, but need more practice with medical terms and situations, this is the class for you! Through a variety of activities – doctor and nurse/patient role-plays, grammar and vocabulary reviews, in-depth health care themes and discussions – you will both practice and perfect what you already know and develop the language skills that will help you communicate more effectively with – and understand – your patients. Native Spanish speakers from different countries will visit classes as mock patients to give participants the hands-on experience needed to improve their communicative skills. The first lesson will focus on basics like: health care cultural differences, medical history, vital signs, body parts and related illnesses and diseases and important, commonly-used vocabulary. After that, each lesson will focus on a specific topic (or two), to be chosen by the participants, including: Dental Health and Skin, Nutrition, Family Planning, Emergency Medicine, Reproductive Health, Pregnancy: Preparing for pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum, Children’s health/Pediatrics, Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, Cancer ( prostate, cervical, skin and colon), Diabetes and Emotional/Mental Health.
